Abstract
objective of the first excavation season at the Neanderthal habitat in Alzolaras Valley was to inspect the stratigraphic sequence of the site at Amalda I, excavated by J. Altuna from 1979 to 1984, in addition to initiating the geomorphological study of the valley. The results obtained allowed us to define some aspects of the stratigraphy that will be relevant for the interpretation of the formation of levels VII (Mousterian) and VI (Gravettian) of the sequence.
