Resum

The fluvial network in the upper Henares which drain into northern half of the Castilian branch of the Iberian Range are made up of the rivers Henares, Dulce and Salado valleys, which are built by dissecting the erosion surface Ml (Schwenzner, 1936). They display a sequence of rock-terraces, alluvial and travertine terraces arranged on eight levels: 77 (+50-55 m), T2 (+40-45 m),T3 (+30-35 m),T4 (+20-25 m),T5(+15 m),T6 (+9 m),T7 (+4 m) and T8 as the current alluvial plain. Datings by UC and series of the U travertine outcrops carried out by Gladfelter, 1971, Orddnez et a/., 1990, Preece, 1991, and Howell et ai, 1995, have enabled most of the terrace levels established in this paper to be chronologically positioned. T8 and T7 in the Holocene, T5 around 120 ka, T4 between 200-240 ka, T3 with 444 ka. From ist morphostiatigraphic position, T1 could be at the middle-lower Pleistocene boundary with a chronology of the 780 ka.
